The reported adware crap is legitimate, but it's much more harmless than it looks. During installation of the program the user has the option to install a small eBay program/shortcut. That's it; that's the "virus". If the option is not selected, the eBay shortcut does not get installed. End of subject.
Even if it does get installed, no harm will befall the computer despite the direct link that's created to eBay. Although a purist might panic over this, in the end it's harmless and it can be easily removed.
