My cleaning people were here on Wednesday, when I got back my Set top box  and BR player had been moved.
Wednesday night I had no vocal audio on Prime and I had to keep adjusting the the voice playback on Netflix.  I get background music, special effects, but no spoken dialogue between characters.  I checked the HDMI cables and all seemed to be seated.
I've tried to find audio settings for Prime but, if they exist, they are well hidden.
I have the same problem with BluRays, no character dialogue but music and background noise. I tried two different BR discs.

I have rebooted everything, in some cases several times to no avail..........

  • In an emergency, 9-1-1 calls ME.

It stands to reason that if the problem was caused by movement, then something must be loose or is not fully seated. The symptoms suggest a hardware related issue, and a defective cable or bad connector can't be ruled out.

You might try some redneck troubleshooting, such as jiggling cables and shaking equipment during playback.

Good sound logic..... I re-seated all the cables, one that appeared OK, wasn't. A cable out of the AVR was half way out.  The Longest Day is in the que for this evening, all seems good.

No hoorahs here.   This problem persists with Blu ray, netflix and prime.  I have no conversational dialogue.  Music, special effects but no dialogue between characters at all.  I think an audio circut that carries voice is gone.
I have rewired, changed cables and played with every setting I can find.
TV remains fine, but input from an outside source is dead.
I am considering replacing the AVR which is 2 years old.

Yes, last night the AVR stopped putting out any sound at all for the TV as well as the streaming sources.  I ordered a new one and installation is Wednesday 2/26.
I decided to leave the rewiring to Best Buy, lots of speaker wire and HDMIs floating around.

But before that happened I tried using the ARC channel. According to the Owners Manual the ARC is supposed to deliver sound and video to the TV via AVR from the STB.  The ARC HDMI is the only connection the manual insists is necessary.   We'll see what the Geek Squad says.

My new AVR was installed yesterday.  A living room full of sound form a 7.1 system is wonderful.  Actually the 2 Geek Squad were pretty good.  Working as a team it took about twenty minutes to which the wiring and we spent 15 minutes or so testing all the options.
I am well satisfied and last night watched the final to discs for the Lord of the Rings.
