When I booted up my Windows7 computer this AM I saw a message across the screen saying something like "Applying procedure 407 of 407" (bottom of screen mentioned Microsoft)

Then computer went into reconfigure mode before apparently starting normally

Anyone know what that was about ?

Have you done any updates lately?  Sounds like something wasn't finished installing when you shut down.

I have the same thought as Bill. It sounds like an update that was finishing the installation. You can do the usual malware scans to be sure, but I don't think you have anything to be concerned about at this point.

I believe you both are probably right. And I've noticed no ill effects. Just curious because I'd never seen this pop-up message before

Registry Updates show that sometimes on the bootup screen. It's often so fast you barely see it, though.
