Three nights ago wifi was acting up. Both Netflix and Prime would start for 30 seconds or so and then stop and my AVR would shut off as if the TV had been shut off.

I got frustrated, unplugged everything including the router and modem and went to bed.
The following morning I restarted in the prescribed order and everything worked as it should.  I was feeling pretty good about that until a text from George arrived.  Apparently a car crash took out a ISP hub which somehow caused the wifi signal to drop.  I don't understand how or why but I was really glad to learn that my newly purchased AVR in still OK.  Fiber optics are complex.

  • In an emergency, 9-1-1 calls ME.

That must have been a frustrating experience.

Whenever my internet goes down my Roku units go off the deep end, WiFi and all. They stop working all together (I can't even go into the setup), until either the internet comes back up, or until I reboot the Roku.

Normally when my internet goes down, it's because I need to reboot my old ASUS router. Other times, my ISP automatically blames a backhoe somewhere.

Yes it was and I actually thought about switching brands. But in the medium priced router market ASUS is one of the leaders.  And this router ain't very old.

I hope the router continues to treat you well. If you ever get to the point where you decide to upgrade it, let me know and I'll offer you a fair price.

My preference is that you're happy with what you have, so please don't go buy something new if what you have is working for you.

Thanks for the offer.  My recollection is the next level of routers is a big step up in price.  As long as I can get it working again with a simple reboot I'm happy.  I can't remember the last time I had to reboot the entire system, maybe a month or 2 back.

Yes it has, thanks. But the last incident was only 3 weeks ago so I have my proverbial fingers crossed.  I'm thinking the system should run for more than a month.
