MS has announced there that is now one giant rollup patch for Win 7 and it not available from the normal download site but from here:
http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=3125574

It is unknown as of now if the Rollup contains the "recommended" win 10 upgrade, or not.  But for a win7 new install or reinstall there is now just this one "update."
And for the moment IE is required but MS has said later in the summer it will support other browsers.

Well until I can get an answer about the Rollup and win10, I'm leaving my updates off, at least until 8/1/16 when the w10 nagging stops.

But we really don't know what's actually inside items 1 and 3.

I'm kinda lost on the subject. I realize IE must be used for the download, but does it have to be downloaded directly to the machine that will use it? Is burning it to CD or copying to USB flash to use on another machine not an option?

If you can use a downloaded copy on the ASUS, then what does it matter if the ASUS can do the download?

Scuzzy; lost, confused, and other appropriate adjectives.
