After our discussion I bought a Roku stick:

After getting the account straightened out, it has been a substantial improvement over the sony Blu-ray player I had been using.  Seems to connect much faster and I am no longer waiting for "content".
Good advice, thank you.

I'm glad it worked out for you, but I am not surprised by the results. :)

Were you able to power the Roku Stick through your TV's USB port, or are you using the provided power adapter?

I don't recall if you use Netflix, but if you do... use your computer to go into your Netflix account and customize the settings to your liking. You can set things such as playback settings (feed quality, auto-play the next episode), subtitles, etc. Note that you cannot make these adjustments on the Roku; only on your PC.

I'm using the wall outlet.  The  only USB port on the TV is on the back, in the middle of the set.  Actually the only setting I have used is for English subtitles and those I could set from the Stick on the TV.

I'm using the wall outlet as well, but once in awhile I have to unplug the Roku to reboot it. Using the TV's USB port reboots the Roku Stick each time the TV is turned on, but the USB is not always the best option as you have found.
