You may have seen this Windows Secrets Newsletter article (2017-03-09) in which the author, Richard Hay, makes a compelling argument in favor of mandatory updates in Windows 10. Much of it makes sense and it's hard to disagree with his reasoning. It's easy to deduce from the article that ignorant users throughout computer land caused this dilemma for the rest of us. The problem is that everyday people (those who are lazy or ignorant about computers) are most likely using Windows 10 Home, so Microsoft gave the least amount of options to its Home interface.
I have simply become accustomed to the forced updates and no longer give it much thought. My bigger beef is when some of those forced updates change my settings, at which time I invent new curse words and age another year or two. Regardless, here's the article:
