Linux Deepin ver . 15.5
« on: Feb 09, 2018, 02:56 PM »
Quite by accident I stumbled on what I think could be a replacement for Microsoft Windows.  This version of Linux is just beautiful and seems pretty complete.  I'm going to dig deeper for a while but I'm thinking about installing this on my older computer.
When you have half an hour you might find this attractive. I'm going to provide a link to a youtube review for you.

I finally got a chance to look at this and it was encouraging; at least first impressions are good. I have my old desktop computer gathering dust, so I may give this a spin when I have some time.

Whoa, stop.  I've discovered that Deepin 15.5 will not run any application that is not available in the Linux store.  That means things like MS Word, any Adobe, etc will not load or run.  It seems if you don't like the selections in the Linux store such as Libre Office the only thing this OS is good for is browsing.
I hope you haven't started.....

Well, dang it. So much for that.

Fortunately, the only thing I started was to get some much needed sleep.
