Windows rollback

In the early days of W10, does anyone recall the provisions or limitations of the rollback options to to dump the automatic upgrade and return to W7?
Better yet, I seem to recall Registry hacks to bypass the MS constraints on limiting options to return to W7, anyone else?

Upgrading to W10 from W7 included a rollback file, just in case the user wanted to return to W7. I recall that there was a time constraint for doing that, but I couldn't tell you if it was 90 days or a year. I might be wrong on that as it was so long ago.

I do recall that Microsoft shoved W10 updates down a lot of people's collective throats. There was a way to bypass the automatic upgrade, but it was less than intuitive. By default, people were unexpectedly getting the unwelcomed update. I believe the workaround was to delete an update in Windows 7, which is what was forcing the W10 download.

If you're going to fool around with Windows 10, I recommend that you use the most current version. Driver support has matured, and Microsoft has made the operating system considerably more tolerable than the earliest implementations. I have not a major irritant in a couple years or so, although some minor things still annoy once in a while.

Also, don't tie in W10 to your Microsoft account (assuming you use one). Even "logging out" is futile, as MS will pester you each time you restart Windows for not being signed in. I've always regretted the decision of logging W10 to my account, but I'm not willing to reinstall W10 just to get around it. Yes, apparently that's the only fix.

Not my intention to fool with W10, my idea was to see if I could find a way to roll back to W7. Not likely but if I screw it up there is no harm done.

I have a W10 problem -plain and simple I have this 12-15 year old Toshiba notebook with w10 that takes 10 minutes to boot.  All I have to do is wipe the drive and throw it away.  But, I cannot figure out how to do that, it took 10 minutes just to find the control panel. And the only way to get on line was to plug it into my router.
Simple instructions please (can tell you based on just this experience, there will never be a 10 in my my house.):

 

I have yet to wipe a Windows 10 computer, although at times it is certainly tempting, so I can't offer my experience. However,  I found this, which offers a couple solutions:

This darn thing is so frustrating, I did't get as far as google. Thanks for that. I will give it a shot.

EDIT: even with the You Tube, changing the laptop settings to remove all, instead of saving personal data was a head scratcher. After I flipped a toggle it finally gave me the option to remove everything except the O/S; which is fine.
We are at 55% at 40 minutes.
Seems this  is a 2 step process. The first appears to be the removal of personal info, which BTW took 2 passes to accomplish. After the second try the computer zipped right to the initial power on screen to tell me it was preparing to reload Win 10, and sat there with the spinning circle for about three hours before it showed any progress. At 4 hours it began to show movement and at 60% I turned the power off, and on and off several times.  I stopped when the reported progress said re-install of win 10 failed.

I'm sorry, as I somehow missed your update. What's the progress at this point? Or what's your plan going forward?

BTW, I recall an issue I was having with Windows 7 that caused me to move my laptop to Windows 10. Some W7 updates were taking in the vicinity of up to 24 hours. I wonder if you experienced something similar with W10.
