When I try to use Amazon.com, the search window is a small sliver and won't open (see attached)

Yesterday I installed the free Driver Updater called "Driver Boost 8" and used it once to update my drivers.

Could that have caused my problem? What might I try for a solution?

New info.  If I tap on the Amazon logo at upper left several times I get the usual Amazon look with full search window.

  • In an emergency, 9-1-1 calls ME.

Remember that it helps to provide information, such as "Windows 10 / Firefox / etc."

From your attachment, it looks like the search bar is being compressed by URL-style tags. This could be either an issue at Amazon, or a browser cache issue. Another possibility is that you have a browser add-on causing problems. If the latter, you may be able to whitelist Amazon into the add-on.

I'd start with clearing the cache, and closing/re-opening the browser. If you are using Firefox, try the same site with Chrome and/or MS Edge. If the issue continues regardless of browser, then it may very well be an Amazon server issue.

If you are using Windows 7 or higher, I wouldn't bother with a driver program. In general you shouldn't update drivers unless it resolves a known issue, or it adds new functionality that you need. Needlessly updating drivers can actually cause issues.

I have been running Windows 7 for a long time and have never needed third party software.  I make certain to reboot the system at least once a week and that alone seems to keep everything fresh.
