I have win7 home, 64 bit. I never installed any additional users for the laptop (lenovo z565). So I am the system administrator. At the opening screen where it says click to change users I don't get system admin option. When I now try to uninstall a program from the ctl panel a message says I don't have sufficient access, contact sys administrator. What is going on with this thing?

I have the same situation, only user and admin.  I don't have a password set to login but obviously have Admin rights.
Generally when I get that message I just click delete or uninstall again and it works.
There are some situations where you can right click on the program exe. or icon and one of the choices is "run as administrator." Right click on a program icon on your desktop screen and the option will be 3 or 4 down on the menu.

There is also the issues of "Permissions" and file ownership  that sometimes doesn't allow you to read, alter or remove a file, but that's not the problem here.  Windows has a pretty good explanation of Permissions in the Help files.

It's an add-on to firefox called MapGalaxy. I don't want to use it but its tool bar comes up every time, using space. I have to click on the menu bar and uncheck it to get rid of it. It says to uninstall, go to ctl pan, programs, select it, etc. But is isn't listed under 'programs'. There is one called ask.com updater. This is the one it says to call the sys admin, even though that is me. I right clik it over and over, double clik it, same message. Wierd.

It looks like MapGalaxy is on the verge of being malware. I suggest you install the Firefox add-on WOT (Web of Trust). It well help to steer you clear of junk.

After you install WOT and restart Firefox, you'll get a registration page. However, registration is optional.

The other possibility is that it's not an add-on but an extension.  In Firefox, click on Add-ons, and when the menu page opens click on Extensions, it could be both MapGalaxy and the Ask toolbar are there and can be removed as one of the choices.

Ok, I followed ja's directions and instead of disabling it there was an option also to remove it. I did that and it looks like it is history. Thanks all.

I found a file of the same name in C: Program Files & was able to delete it. Don't know if there are other locations whereby it lurks.

amazing. I ran malwarebytes about a week ago and it found 20 nasties and deleted them. I just ran it today and it found 28 more. I deleted them all then scanned with ms essentials and it found nothing.

I then went to registry editor and under the first folder found 30 subfolders that start with the name MapsGalaxy. Do you think I should just delete these?

I had ccleaner which I hadn't run in awhile. It updated and found numerous registry entries that were "problems" including a bunch of entries for mapsgalaxy, I backed up the registry and deleted them all. I also backed up part of the registry per reg editor then went thru and deleted all 30 entrys that started with mapsgalaxy.

I don't have spybot but will look for it. I need to run these things more often I guess.
