Hello,

this topic is a follow up of another I posted a bit further down where I had issues with my monitors.
I took your advice and decided that fixing the old PC was not worth so I will pick a new one up.
I also took your advice and waited for win10, I upgraded to Win10 from win 7 and I kind of like it.

I need some help putting a machine together, I would be happy to also get a ready made one
but I am in Europe and I assume you could not recommend one that is US based
that is why I focus on having one build for me, but I have no idea what parts to put in.

Since this is one of many computers I have, the intend for it is purely surfing/youtube and office,
it will be not a gaming PC nor one that will have very heavy programs.
I would really like to keep it within 500 euro if possible.
I only have 2 requests

1 - It needs to be silent, no crazy noise funs...
2 - The graphic card, although does not need to be for gaming, I need one with two ports since I like to have two monitors.

Would you be able to suggest some parts which I can than use a local online computer builder to buy from?

Many Thanks
Nic

At that budget, about $550 US, you are facing a challenge.  A mid level computer in the US averages around $600 to $800.  And the cost to have one built for you will add to the cost.  I will give it some thought and do some digging.  Do you have any idea what might be available to you in Europe in a pre-built system.  It might be easier for you, and us, to look at a or some machines and their components and make suggestions for upgraded parts.  That being said, I would suggest you stay away from HP and Dell.  I would look at ASUS and Lenovo to see what might be available to you.

I am assuming you have a desk top in mind, yes?  Building a notebook or laptop is not feasible.

Are you also planning on 2 new monitors as well?

Yes I am looking for a PC tower.
No need for monitors, I have 2 new ones just waiting to be unpacked.

This is an example, the site is in dutch, but the specs should be easy to understand.

In contrast, this one, for 100euros more, has a much better video card and processor.  The machine you first picked has one VGA connector for a monitor and  one DVI connector for the second monitor.  The second machine has two DVI connectors and no VGA.

Do you recall what kind of connectors your two new monitors require?  Nothing wrong with DVI and VGA, or two DVI connectors.  The specifications for both machines mention mini-HDMI connectors, the less expensive unit has one, the other has two.  If your monitors have standard size HDMI you would need adapters, Mini to standard or the other way around, depending.

Neither system has an operating system which means you would have to install either Windows 7 or 10 yourself, or pay someone to do it for you.

Either system would do what you want, although the second one would do it better.  But before you buy, I suggest you look some more for alternatives.

Thanks Bill, the two monitors I have have mini HDMI ports.

I like your choice and considering that this website is one of the cheapest but reliable in this country
with a fantastic support, I think I will go with your choice.

For the OS, I have 5 other computers in the house each with their original Windows 7 CD and serial
including the one I am about to put in the bin. Is it illegal for me to re-use the same windows CD on a new computer?
I like to save money but doing things legally for me is more important. A new Windows 10 costs 135 euros,
an upgrade from windows 7 is free :-)

Thanks

No, reusing the Win 7 install disk is perfectly legal.  The restriction is that it can be only used on one computer at a time.  If the old one is going in the bin, you're fine.  You might have to call Microsoft to reactivate, but maybe not.
Go for it and good luck!
