Since having AT&T UVerse installed, I have been unable to open my Yahoo Mail account

If I go to Yahoo.com to "sign-on", I am taken instead to ATT.net

I want to get back to Yahoo Mail and make it my default mail client. Help please !

What browser are you using.  First off I'd try a different one, like Chrome or Firefox, particularly if you're using IE.
Secondly, you might want to clear the browser's cach, i.e. browsing history , cookies etc.

I normally use IE and Yahoo Classic Mail.

I uninstalled Chrome and cleared browsing.

Tried to reinstall Chrome and it will not accept my ATT assigned name and password nor my prior mail name and password.

I am not sure what you mean by not accepting your 'assigned name.'  But it does seem as if you are struggling with a malware problem.  Try the suggested steps in your other poast first.

After a one-hour runaround with an ATT Support agent he suggested he might change my Yahoo Mail password. But from that point he didn't have anything further to advise so I guess he just decided to hang up on me, which he did.

On my own I found if I went to the ATT Email log-in page, clicked on "Sign in as a different user", entered my old Yahoo Mail name and the new password. Voila! I was back to my old Yahoo Mail account.

Apparently going from DSL service to Uverse service requires a change in Yahoo Mail password (I believe maybe my old password does not meet their new password standards)

Since having AT&T Uverse installed I have been on the phone with countless AT&T support agents, for a total of more than 6 hours, straightening out at least four separate issues (all a result of AT&T not providing initial help and/or guidance)

Ridiculous IMO

P.S. Filipino accents continue to be difficult for me to understand

My support call today resembled the following - but with a Filipino accent :
