strange connector on new graphic card

Hello Again guys,

this may sounds stupid, but my new GTX750 Ti video card has two ports that seem to be the same at a quick glance but they aren't actually.

as you can see, the left DVI port does not have the 4 holes around the little slot while the one on the right it does have them.
What is the difference? I have multiple adapters, but all with the 4 pins...

Hi,
The connector on the left is a DVI-D dual link connector.  The one on the right is a DVI-a dual link connector.
From Wiki:
DVI-I (integrated, combines digital and analog in the same connector; digital may be single or dual link)
DVI-D (digital only, single link or dual link)

As I'm sure you know, this card also has HDMI available to support one of your monitors.

I made a little mistake, my monitors have Display Ports.
So I just went to buy 2 cables with display port one end and DVI (without the 4 pins) to the other end,
The computer does not see them.

I moved one old dvi monitor back at least to check what the PC is saying and when I try to detect the Display Ports monitor that I still have left attached, it does not even detects the monitor, it only sees the old one.

when I use the menu from the Display Ports monitor, it says that there is no signal coming from the computer.
I tested the display monitors on the previous PC I have used for the simulator and they work both fine.

I use Dell UltraSharp U2312HM 23" Monitors

Sounds like a Display Port driver issue.  But I must confess I've never used Display Port stuff.  Take a look at Device Manager (in Control Panel) and see if the Display Ports are flagged with yellow exclamation marks.  You might also see what it says about the current drivers or maybe have it look for updated ones.

The other thing I'm leary about are hybrid cables, but that's just me.

According the the monitor specifications I just looked at, it also has a DVI connector and a D-sub connector but NO HDMI.  I can't determine what kind of DVI.  You may want to consider the option of an HDMI to DVI connector to support the second monitor.

The monitors have also DVI ports like you say, I looked around the house and found two cables dvi both sides,
used those and it all works now, tomorrow I bring the cables back since they costed 25 euro each.
I don't know why sometimes I complicate my life so much... If I slow a little and consider my option I would have saved 50 euros and lots of my time and yours :-)

I'm glad you got it sorted out!  Now I have a question.  In the "hobby" video, one of the views is the 'finished' simulator with 3 monitors mounted on the wall as if looking out from the cockpit.   I know how Dell monitors get mounted, but how are you connecting all three monitors?  I have often considered adding a third monitor to my system but didn't want to run a second graphics card.

I actually have 5 monitors attached :-)
The trick is in the graphic card I use, it supports a total of 6 monitors at once using eyefinity technology.
The other solution used a lot in simulation is to buy a "Matrox TripleHead2Go"

Lots of people use this when they build a smal sim, in my case I have 3 PC on a network just for the sim and right now I run 9 monitors in total :-)

I looked at the Matrox website and learned that the Triplehead requires a Dataport or mini Dataport connection.   A show stopper for me, at least now.  My video card has 2 DVI ports but no dataport.  Maybe next time.  I don't think I'm interested enough to change cards at the moment.  But I do appreciate the information.

Edit: I see however there is at least one DVI to Dataport converter made by Belkin.  Worth some thought.
