Power banks

During the power outage of the last hurricane one of my concerns was my phone battery.  My daughter asked if I had a back up.  Except for finding someone with a running generator I did not. She is an Iphone user and for some time has had the ability to recharge by buying power units for the phone. 
She sent me a rechargeable unit that will recharge my phone battery, along with any other USB powered device.
A $30 unit for peace of mind.  I wasn't aware.........

We have 3 or 4 around the house. My wife uses them more often, although I keep one charged for my personal use just in case. I figure that in a severe emergency I can always charge my phone in the car. Plus, I have a couple large UPS units for the computers.

I'm in Florida, so I understand the Hurricane preparedness deal.

I too have a few power bricks around the house, which are great for traveling or for emergencies.

I'm in Colorado.

Funny that right after I posted my last message here, the batteries went out on one of my UPS units. I had to buy new batteries ASAP, as the APC UPS would not power the computer at all until I replaced them.

Actually that's not funny.  IIRC UPS batteries are expensive.

I bought my replacements at BatterySharks. Spent about 1/2 as much as the APC batteries, and they've been working fine since.
